Replacing the Batteries – Keypads and Keyfobs

NOTE:  Make sure that your security system is disarmed prior to replacing the batteries in any sensor.

Centralite 3 Series Keypad

  • Battery Indicator will display when batteries have less than 60 days of use remaining
  • Remove keypad from wall by lifting the keypad up and off of the mounting bracket
  • Remove the battery cover and the existing batteries.  Replace the existing batteries with two (2) CR123A batteries
  • Reinstall the battery cover and replace the keypad on the mounting bracket

SMC SMCWK01-Z Keypad (Legacy)

  • Remove the keypad from the wall by lifting the keypad off of the mounting screws
  • Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the battery cover and the existing batteries.  Replace the existing batteries with two (2) CR2 batteries
  • Replace the battery cover and hang the keypad back on the mounting screws

SMC SMCKF01-Z Keyfob (Legacy)

  • Holding the key fob in one hand, insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the casing seam
  • Push lightly while twisting to separate the casing
  • Remove the circuit board from the key fob casing
  • Remove the battery from the battery slot and replace it with a new CR2023 3-volt Lithium battery.  Be sure to observe proper polarity.
  • Replace the circuit board into the casing and snap the casing shut

Hitron HT-KF1 Keyfob (Legacy)

  • Remove the battery cover by sliding the cover off of the fob to the side
  • Remove the existing battery and replace it with a new CR2032 3-volt Lithium battery.  Be sure to observe proper polarity.
  • Replace the battery cover by sliding the cover back onto the fob.
